Part 97.11 #hamradio #ARRL

The recent roadtrip involved airline travel.  Part 97.11 states "Stations aboard ships or aircraft must be approved by the master of the ship or pilot in command of the aircraft."

On a whim, the author tried to get permission to operate on board the aircraft.  The requests were rejected, as it was supposed they would be.

However, the first officer was a ham.  I gave him my QSL card as a souvenir but the exchange prompted this:

"At least I asked."

The first officer said, "Most people don't"

"They are required to."

Yes, hams are not supposed to ... they are required to ask.

Your license.  Uncle Charlie might have something to write you about.
