Lloyd,
You and I are in agreement on this. I've been musing on the issue. The answer could be:
1. The candidates are the best possible and no one thinks they can do any better.
2. We're an aging population and too few people have the energy and motivation to compete.
3. The relevance of the ARRL is so severely doubted that people don't want to devote the time.
4. We having done a good job promoting the need for new blood and new people to energize the organization.
5. The section manager position is not seen as making enough difference in the organization.
6. All of the above.
Good topic for a wider discussion.
It is a wild thought that the League can not attract enough talent to achieve an election at a Section level.
Even more sad, less than 20% of the members cared enough to vote in the dues survey. In other words, your dues are going up because 20% of the membership said so.
The ONLY positive will be the ARRL will save money having an election. At least in some countries, the elections are still held, even when the outcome is obviously obvious.
