YOU are #Skywarn #hamradio

The links above are to the Wichita, Kansas and the Tulsa, Oklahoma Skywarn efforts.

Are you involved in Skywarn? No, not that yelling on TeeVee, passing in no-passing zones storm chaser action. Skywarn is local spotters using ham radio, Twitter, telephone to report conditions at the local level to the National Weather Service.

This effort, started in the 1970s, out of the 1950s video shows how local people report tornados and other severe weather events. Notice the video starts with coffee.

Are you involved in your LOCAL Skywarn program? Training is free. No souped-up vehicles required. SAFETY is imperative.

One of the reasons I had for getting my license nearly 20 years ago was to do public service. I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve with Heartland REACT here in Omaha. We do a lot more than just weather spotting.
