One of the responsibilities of the emergency coordinator at the local level is … 

• Establish viable working partnerships with federal, state, county, city governmental and/or private agencies in the ARES jurisdictional area that needs the services of ARES in emergencies. 

A rule in emergency management is "Don't wait for a disaster to exchange business cards". 

One of the best places to serve your community by meeting others concerned about the County is at the Local Emergency Planning Committee meeting
